FOUNDING PHASE|Developing our first technology project framework in the Philippines

Connection is only the beginning.

Gift of Gideon is building a practical model for bringing reliable internet access and useful AI skills to underserved communities in the Philippines. We aim to connect communities first, then help people use that connection to learn, work, create, solve problems, and access opportunity.

Connect. Learn. Empower.
Our Foundations

Our Mission & Approach

Gift of Gideon is built around a simple principle: use technology to create opportunity. We aim to help bring reliable internet connectivity to underserved communities, then teach people how to use that connection to learn, work, and improve everyday life.

01

Connectivity

Bring useful internet access to communities where existing service is unavailable, unreliable, or economically impractical, using satellite and other practical last-mile solutions.

02

Access

Make that connection useful through community Wi-Fi, shared devices, and local infrastructure in trusted community spaces like schools, libraries, community centers, or cooperatives.

03

AI & Digital Literacy

Teach people how to use modern internet and AI services effectively. We focus on practical, real-world outcomes rather than computer programming.

04

Sustainability

Ensure every deployment has an affordable ongoing service plan, local ownership, basic technical support, and a clear plan for recurring maintenance costs.

WHY GIDEON

Meaningful change does not always begin with enormous resources.

Gift of Gideon is built around a simple idea: the right tools, placed in the right hands, can create an impact far greater than their size or cost.

The name is inspired by the story of Gideon, who accomplished a significant purpose not through overwhelming numbers, but through careful preparation, focus, and a small, dedicated group. We apply this principle to technology by focusing on efficient, high-utility tools rather than massive budgets.

"Small resources. Practical technology. Outsized impact."
(1)

One well-chosen internet link can serve a shared community facility.

(2)

One local Wi-Fi network can connect an entire school or cooperative.

(3)

One shared device can give many users access to information.

(4)

One trained coordinator can help others build AI and digital skills.

(5)

Practical digital literacy has value that multiplies over time.

FLAGSHIP PROGRAM

Gideon Connect

Affordable connectivity. Practical AI help. Local capability. Gideon Connect builds on the familiar pay-per-use internet model in the Philippines. We plan to partner with existing neighborhood Piso Net and Piso Wi-Fi providers to enhance their setups with learning tools, or deploy and operate our own community stations where no service exists.

01

CONNECT

Start with local needs, then establish the right backhaul using fiber, fixed wireless, cellular, or satellite. A professionally managed local network keeps public access separate, secure, measurable, and supportable.

02

EQUIP

Offer affordable pay-per-use Wi-Fi for personal devices alongside shared Windows terminals, printing, scanning, and assisted digital services for people who need more than a connection.

03

TEACH

Make AI useful from the first visit. Guided tools and local assistance help people create resumes, practice interviews, understand lessons, translate documents, and support small businesses while learning to verify AI output.

04

SUSTAIN

Use modest pay-per-use fees, printing, assisted services, sponsorship, and local stewardship to cover connectivity and maintenance. Remote monitoring and clear reporting keep each hub dependable and accountable.

"More than a hotspot: a doorway to practical opportunity."

Each hub joins affordable access with the tools and human help needed to learn, work, communicate, and solve everyday problems.

LOCAL CO-DESIGN

Partnership, not paternalism.

Gideon Connect is built with communities, not simply installed for them. Rather than replacing what already works, we aim to partner with existing local Piso Net and Piso Wi-Fi operators to improve connectivity, add learning tools, and expand services. Where no operator serves the community, a future pilot may develop a new hub with local partners. Technology supports local capability. It does not replace it.

Execution Guidelines

01
Start small.

Begin with manageable community connectivity projects. Solve real problems for one partner at a time.

02
Build well.

Install durable, secure, and maintainable local networks designed for tropical climates.

03
Stay involved.

Connectivity has ongoing costs and technical needs. Follow-up is part of our design from day one.

WHY CONNECTION AND EDUCATION BELONG TOGETHER

The library that learned to speak.

And it learned to listen.

The internet opened access to more knowledge than any library could hold. But access was never the same as understanding. People still had to know what to search for, which sources to trust, and how an answer applied to their own lives.

Modern AI changes that relationship. It can explain an idea in simpler words, translate it, give an example, or try a different approach. It does not contain all human knowledge, and it is not always right. The value is the conversation: information can respond to a person’s language, question, context, and pace.

  1. 01

    The connection opens the library.

  2. 02

AI lets you talk to it.

  3. 03

Education teaches you how to ask.

  4. 04

Critical thinking teaches you when not to believe the answer.

Ask again.

I still don’t understand. Try a simpler explanation.

That is why Gideon Connect pairs practical connectivity with practical AI and digital literacy.

CONNECT → EQUIP → TEACH → SUSTAIN

The Gideon Connect Blueprint

Every community is different, but a Gideon Connect project follows the same basic idea: establish a useful connection, make it accessible, teach people how to use it, and create a plan to keep it working.

Internet Connection

Choose the Right Connection

The right connection depends on the place. Gideon Connect remains provider-neutral and considers practical options such as satellite, fixed wireless, mobile, fiber, or DSL based on availability, reliability, and cost.

How It Works

  • •Satellite terminal option selected for off-grid and remote sites
  • •Fixed wireless and LTE mobile broadband fallbacks in semi-urban areas
  • •Direct fiber or DSL integration where local providers offer active service
  • •Selection based on actual speed tests, power usage, and monthly service costs

Enhancing how students learn

We guide students on using AI as an interactive tutor. AI should support thinking rather than simply writing assignments or replacing study.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

  • 1Explain complex concepts in simple, localized terms
  • 2Generate practice quizzes and revision questions
  • 3Practice English and local languages through conversation
RESPONSIBLE USE

Use AI. Verify AI.

Critical thinking turns conversation into responsible action. ASK → CHECK → PROTECT → DECIDE is a simple habit for using AI without surrendering your judgment.

Practice with a guided first conversation
ASK

ASK

Use AI to explore, learn, create, and solve problems. View it as a collaborative assistant to spark ideas.

CHECK

CHECK

Verify important facts rather than assuming AI is correct. AI can produce convincing errors (hallucinations).

PROTECT

PROTECT

Protect personal and sensitive information. Do not input passwords, financial details, or identity documents.

DECIDE

DECIDE

People remain responsible for important decisions. AI is here to assist your judgment, not replace it.

Geographic Context

Built for the Philippines

Different communities. Different conditions. Technology chosen with purpose.

The Philippines is made up of thousands of islands and communities with very different infrastructure, connectivity, power, logistics, and educational environments. Gift of Gideon will not use a one-size-fits-all model. Each project will begin by listening to the local community and understanding what connectivity solutions would genuinely serve them.

Luzon

Dense cities, mountain communities, agricultural areas, and remote settlements exist within the same island group. Local conditions can vary dramatically.

Project Design Factors

01

Connectivity

Internet availability varies enormously, ranging from fiber broadband to places where satellite or other last-mile links are required.

02

Power

Power availability and reliability can affect device selection, batteries, charging, and possible alternative energy solutions.

03

Logistics

Island geography, transportation, warranty service, replacement parts, and repairability influence technology choices.

04

Local Capability

Technology should be maintainable by the people who will actually use and support it.

05

Community Priorities

The most important requirement is the need identified by the local school or community organization itself.

The map does not determine the solution. The community does.

Gift of Gideon will begin each project by understanding the people, infrastructure, available skills, and practical constraints at the site before selecting technology.

PROJECT REGISTRY

Project Registry

Transparency is a core value of the Gift of Gideon initiative. Once deployments begin, every community connectivity project will be registered publicly here with itemized installation receipts, monthly costs, and local support plans.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Our Commitment to Transparency

We believe that supporters, volunteers, and local partners deserve to know exactly how resources are managed. Gift of Gideon operates under open-information standards from the beginning.

Open Project Accounting

We intend to track and publish all project-level costs. A project is not sustainable simply because initial hardware was donated. We document both: (1) Installation Costs, including hardware, setup, power backups, and logistics; and (2) Ongoing Costs, detailing monthly internet service subscriptions and recurring operational expenses. Our public logs will show exactly how ongoing connectivity is funded.

Hardware Lifecycle Tracking

To ensure deployed technology remains functional and in use, we plan to maintain a lifecycle tracking registry. Each deployed router, access point, and shared device should eventually be assigned an asset record detailing its serial number, target destination, coordinator details, maintenance history, and follow-up status.

FUTURE COLLABORATION
